My client tells me that he is a self-employed consultant although I understand he has been working for one client and nobody else and I have doubts over his employment status. Although this is primarily a problem for the engager as a significant amount of my client’s time is spent working from home I am concerned over the deductibility of costs incurred. What are the rules relating to deductible expenses and are there differences between self-employed and employee home workers?
