The Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt delivered the government’s Autumn Statement on Wednesday 22 November 2023.
After claiming the government has delivered on halving inflation growing the economy and reducing debt the chancellor focused his statement on measures designed to further boost the economy by (in his own words) delivering ‘the biggest package of tax cuts to be implemented since the 1980s’ and (although not stated) to gain support ahead of the next general election (expected sometime in 2024).
