International tax planning is a complicated subject. It involves myriad rules which generally only come into play in a cross-border situation as well as tax laws for at least two countries. Although the current global economic situation may have dampened cross-border activity this will undoubtedly return. Tolley's International Tax Planning is an excellent book for anyone looking at either investment into the UK or investment outbound from the UK.
