Business tax: Charities

HMRC has published details of new forms and procedures for charities wishing to be recognised formally by the department for tax purposes. The application form ChA1 is designed to be completed on screen. Charities required to register with the Charity Commission (or its equivalent in Scotland or Northern Ireland) must do so before applying to HMRC. See www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities.
