Recent reports in the national press would suggest that despite a growing body of case law some charities are still finding it difficult to take advantage of the cultural exemption with Customs & Excise taking a disturbingly restrictive approach.
 
It might have been hoped that the two most recent cases The Zoological Society of Wales (VTD 18786) and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (VTD 18799) taken in conjunction with the earlier cases such as Glastonbury Abbey and The Zoological Society of London would have created a clear and helpful picture for the thousands of theatres museums zoos etc (and their advisers)...
