The Public Bill Committee resumed its consideration of the Finance Bill on Tuesday 2 June discussing clause 17 (rates of air passenger duty). Conservative spokesman Greg Hands (Hammersmith & Fulham) commented:
 
'Part 3 is banded at £50 for economy and £100 for all premium classes. That includes India China Japan and much of Latin America and is a 25% rise. What I shall call part 4 but which is defined legally as all those territories which are not in parts 1 to 3 comprises Australasia and various parts of Latin America including Argentina Chile Bolivia ...
