HMRC advisory fuel rates

HMRC have issued revised advisory fuel rates for journeys in company cars from 1 March 2025. The rates are used where employers either reimburse employees for business travel in their company cars or require employees to repay the cost of fuel used for private travel. There are two changes to the rates from the previous quarter. The rates for the following categories have been increased by 1p per mile (ppm):

  • petrol cars with engine capacity of 1 400cc to 2 000cc (new rate is 15ppm); and
  • diesel cars with engine capacity of 1 600cc or less (new rate is 12ppm).

LPG rates are unchanged and the electric rate remains at 7ppm.
