HMRC is to allocate economic operator registration and identification (EORI) numbers automatically to more than 88,000 VAT-registered traders over the next two weeks, as the Government steps up efforts to prepare businesses for Brexit.
Around 72,000 companies have already registered for EORI numbers. Businesses will need an EORI number to move goods in or out of the UK after Brexit.
