HMRC has confirmed (via the CIOT) that its customer engagement and support team (CEST) service can be accessed by any agent with a government gateway ID, regardless of the size of the agent, by using the agent’s own government gateway ID and entering their client’s UTR and other details once inside the system. This includes scenarios where the agent uses the CEST to access the services of HMRC’s dedicated customer engagement and support team for mid-sized business clients.
