'Let's be Kind to the Inland Revenue'

Any one of the 50th anniversary of the Bankers' Taxation Circle (BTC) the transformation of the Large Business Office into the Large Business Service and the setting up of the new specialist Financial Office would be a good occasion to reflect on the banking sector's relationship with the Inland Revenue. In this personal view I will make some general comments on the Inland Revenue and on its work in corporation tax compliance. Even these are extremely wide areas to be addressed within the confines of a short article. I should add that it is not my intention to be critical or patronising of either Inland Revenue staff...
