HMRC’s making tax digital pilot is now open to landlords receiving income from UK property (excluding furnished holiday lettings), in addition to self-employed sole traders.

HMRC’s making tax digital pilot is now open to landlords receiving income from UK property (excluding furnished holiday lettings), in addition to self-employed sole traders.

The pilot was opened in March to sole traders with income from one business and a current accounting period ending after 5 April 2018. These businesses can sign up to use software to keep digital records and send income tax updates to HMRC. In certain cases, this will remove the need to file a self-assessment return after 2017/18.
