In a Parliamentary written answer, Nigel Huddelston has acknowledged the impact of delayed processing times for form A1 applications – the process of applying for evidence showing that an individual remains under the UK NICs system while working abroad temporarily in EU/EEA countries.
Huddleston reports that HMRC has seen a significant rise in the number of form A1 applications and in other National Insurance work which has affected processing times, and is aiming to meet its service standards for A1 forms by the end of April 2024, having implemented a recovery strategy which includes deploying additional resources. The minister did not respond directly to a question on average processing times for A1 applications.
