HMRC are considering plans to introduce a new dedicated disclosure facility for R&D claims, according to the CIOT. This was part of the discussions at a meeting of HMRC’s R&D Working Group, which also covered improvements to how HMRC are processing claims in light of recent criticism of its ‘volume compliance’ approach which appears to have led to the rejection of valid claims. HMRC’s R&D Communications Forum also discussed the potential introduction of a disclosure facility. Minutes from the forum, which meets every six months, are published online.
