OECD tax report to G20

The OECD Secretary-General has published his tax report to the 26 February 2021 online meeting of G20 finance ministers. The report is set out two sections (1) international tax, and (2) transparency and exchange of tax information.

The international tax agenda section covers:

  • tax challenges arising from the digitalisation of the economy;
  •  the OECD’s response to covid-19, including providing information and tools to support tax policy makers and tax administrations in addressing the various challenges presented by the crisis;
  • tax and environment: the OECD has published two regular flagship reports on carbon pricing and taxing energy use;
  • implementation of BEPS measures and tax certainty;
  • tax transparency; and
  • capacity building to support developing countries.

The progress report on the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes covers:

  • operation of automatic exchanges of information;
  • exchange of information on request standards; and
  • delivering capacity building support in the times of covid-19.
