How did you end up in tax?
During my solicitor’s articles at Allen & Overy I did a three month stint in tax. I was sold on it.
What advice would you give someone entering the profession?
Examine your motives. If you are interested in tax and the tax system – go for it. If not don’t.
Who in tax do you most admire?
Across the tax community there are far too many to name but I would like to give a special mention to Dave Hartnett and Margaret Hodge for bringing the tax debate to the boardroom and to the kitchen table.
What work is keeping you busy?
Interviewing potential GAAR panel members. The core panel will be drawn from the 60 applicants who responded to the public job advertisement.
