In what it calls ‘the latest in a series of victories for international companies against [India’s] revenue authorities’, the FT reports (8 October) that the Bombay High Court ruled for Vodafone, in a case which the UK telecoms giant’s recent annual report said could have reached £450m ($690m) in total liabilities. The case, which is separate from Vodafone’s long-running $2.6bn dispute with the Indian government over alleged unpaid capital gains tax, relates to the transfer of a call-centre and share options linked to Vodafone’s 2007 acquisition of Indian mobile group Hutchison Essar for $10.9bn.
