The CIOT, IFS and Institute for Government have written to the newly-appointed chancellor of the exchequer and financial secretary to the Treasury, seeking confirmation of the government’s intention to remain with a single annual Budget event.
The letters (see bit.ly/2MHoZZE) also suggest the government should set out a tax policy roadmap wherever possible, consult early and often, and carry out routine evaluation of tax measures, including tax reliefs, as the OBR recommended in its fiscal risks report earlier this month.
