Retained EU law: further changes

The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 (Consequential Amendments) Regulations SI 2025/82 amend or revoke various provisions of subordinate legislation and assimilated direct legislation in consequence of the following provisions of REUL(RR)A 2023:

  • s 2 which revoked EU (Withdrawal) Act 2018 s 4 so that the rights saved under that section no longer continued to be recognised and available in domestic law;
  • s 4 which amended EU(W)A 2018 s 5 so that general principles of EU law were no longer part of UK law from the end of 2023; and
  • s 5 insofar as it renamed retained EU law (REUL) so that at all times after the end of 2023 REUL that remains in force is known as ‘assimilated law’.

The regulations come into force on 27 February 2025.
