The UK government has suggested that a UK/San Marino tax treaty is on its agenda. In a recent Parliamentary written answer Victoria Atkins, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, said: ‘There are ongoing discussions between the UK and San Marino about a range of issues, including a double taxation treaty’.
Representatives of both countries first considered starting negotiations for a tax treaty in February 2022. There is currently no tax treaty between the two countries, although a tax information exchange agreement entered into force in 2011.
