Solvent Employers and Winding-Up Schemes

 
Lesley Browning Partner Norton Rose outlines the position of solvent employers with regards to winding-up schemes following the announcement earlier this year
 
This article will concentrate on the position of solvent employers following the shock announcement (which for ease of reference I will refer to as the White Paper) issued by the DWP on 11 June 2003. Consultation on the White Paper closed on 22 July. This follows on from the 17 December 2002 Green Paper. Consultation on the non-taxation issues in the Green Paper ended on 28 March 2003 and there were 800 responses (and 35 consultation events) so the White Paper was issued fairly speedily.
