Working parents or carers who are normally eligible for
tax-free childcare or 30 hours free childcare but have temporarily fallen below
the minimum income requirement as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic will continue
to receive financial support until 31 October 2020, HMRC has announced.
HMRC’s
note also reconfirms the previously announced policy that critical workers
who exceed the income threshold for the 2020–21 tax year as a result of working
more in order to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic will also continue to receive
support (the temporary increase in the maximum income threshold for critical
workers is set out in regulations – SI 2020/656).
