The European Commission has published responses to the public consultation on further corporate tax transparency. The consultation requested views on whether requiring companies to disclose more information about the taxes they pay on a country by country basis could help tackle aggressive tax avoidance in the EU. The Commission received 282 responses with 48 NGOs, 137 individuals and 9 trade union bodies all favouring public country by country reporting. 39 business associations or bodies and 14 companies did not support going beyond current EU public transparency and country by country reporting to tax authorities under the G20/OECD BEPS global standard (BEPS action 13).
