The 2021 Protocol to the 2015 Double Taxation Convention between the UK and Sweden was signed in London on 23 February 2021. The Protocol will enter into force when both countries have completed their legislative procedures and exchanged diplomatic notes.
The main change is to remove wording from the individual articles relating to dividends (art 10), interest (art 11), royalties (art 12) and “other income” (art 20) which excludes avoidance arrangements from relief, and to replace that wording with a new overarching article 27A (entitlement to benefits).
