In February 2007 VAT Decision number 20 000 was published on the Finance and Tax Tribunals website and it is also included in the VAT Tribunal summaries in this issue. In December 2006 we saw the publication of Excise Duty Decision number 1 000. Strictly that VAT decision (which happened to be a short-form default surcharge decision) was not the 20 000th VAT decision. This was for two reasons. First something went wrong with the numbering after Decision number 8001; there was a jump to 8802. Did someone hit the wrong key? Secondly the total does not include the unpublished VAT decisions produced following hearings in private — for...
