The Russian VAT system will shortly experience its largest and most significant set of legislative changes since the introduction of the new VAT Chapter of the Russian Tax Code in 2001. From 1 January 2006 fundamental changes will occur to the way Russian taxpayers including multinationals operating via branches and subsidiaries account for VAT in Russia. But what will this mean in practice for foreign businesses operating in Russia?
