Andy White graduated from Oxford University in 1974 and had no plans as to a career path. His mother suggested accountancy as a stop-gap while he decided what he wanted to do. He says he is still deciding. He joined the small West End practice of Gordon Leighton & Co, where he was made partner in 1980 and became senior partner in 1988.
