Another Budget – which George Osborne will it be this time?

Will it be a Budget dominated by pensions, as was expected, or will it be dominated by new concerns over the state of the economy and the public finances? David Smith reports.

The March 2016 Budget is looming large in the diary and you could be forgiven for feeling a little weary at the prospect. Yes it is less than a year since we had the last March Budget on 18 March 2015 but we have also had a couple of other of big fiscal events in between. On 8 July 2015 a few months after the election there was the Summer Budget; and on 25 November 2015 was the combined Autumn Statement and Spending Review. I rather enjoy these things but four in 12 months diminishes even my appetite.
 
So what about the upcoming Budget ...
