Paula Tallon examines measures of interest to owners of SMEs

A number of measures have been announced that will be relevant to owners of SMEs. There are some amendments to the seed enterprise investment scheme (SEIS) to further encourage investment in new businesses and also a number of measures which may encourage businesses to take on and reward employees.

As to be expected however avoidance has been targeted with some proposed amendments to the loans to participators rules and the introduction of the general anti-abuse rule (GAAR).
