Budget analysis: SMEs

The overall message to the Chancellor is that more still needs to be done to encourage the SME sector, say Melanie Orriss and Tim Fussell.

George Osborne’s Budget speech included positive comments about UK business. In his own words Britain should have ‘a tax system that is more competitive for business than any other major economy in the world.’ Business will lead the recovery and must have the ‘self-confidence to: invest expand hire innovate and be the best.’

But what did this Budget really mean for SMEs in the UK?
