The Budget on 21 March 2007 and subsequent Finance Bill contained two important sets of measures relating to SDLT avoidance and to property partnerships. What is notable is the fact that the Finance Bill provisions in both cases go well beyond the scope of the general anti-avoidance and partnership changes introduced by regulations at the time of the PBR on 6 December 2006 and tax practitioners should note the additional measures. This is especially the case in relation to property partnerships. There were also a lot of detailed technical changes in other areas...
