The CIOT has published an updated set of FAQs from HMRC covering common issues encountered with the capital gains tax 30-day reporting service for UK property disposals. The FAQs cover various scenarios including those involving estimates and amendments to returns, reclaiming overpayments of tax, the interaction with self-assessment and personal representatives.
HMRC is currently reviewing its online guidance ‘to make the UK property disposal process clearer for customers and agents submitting online and paper returns’. Examples of when an amendment/estimate can be made are currently being prepared separately, according to the update.
