HMRC has published a paper Collecting tax debts as we emerge from coronavirus setting out its approach to dealing with tax debts for individuals and businesses and those concerned about their ability to pay their tax due.
As the Covid support schemes start to wind down, HMRC intends to work with taxpayers and businesses to find ways to support them in an affordable way; for instance, discussing affordable payment options, such as Time to Pay arrangements.
The policy paper sets out: what HMRC expects from customers using the various government lending schemes available, in relation to servicing tax debts; and HMRC’s approach to company voluntary arrangements.
