Finance (No. 2) Bill: Public Bill Committee

printer Mail

The Public Bill Committee is expected to begin its scrutiny of Finance (No. 2) Bill 2024 on Tuesday 21 May, completing its work by Thursday 23 May at the latest.

As usual, written evidence submissions can be sent to the Public Bill Committee for consideration, before it concludes it work.

Anyone who intends to submit views on the Bill is ‘strongly advised to submit [their] written evidence as soon as possible’, and certainly before the Committee finishes its scrutiny of the Bill (which is not likely to take very long, given the relatively short extent of the legislation and the limited two-day timetable).

The following clauses of the Bill were passed without amendment by the Committee of the Whole House (ie the House of Commons) on 8 May 2024:

  • clause 1: income tax charge for 2024/25;
  • clause 2: main rates of income tax for 2024/25;
  • clause 3: default and savings rates of income tax for 2024/25;
  • clause 4: freezing starting rate limit for savings for 2024/25;
  • clause 12: charge and main rate for financial year 2025;
  • clause 13: standard small profits rate and fraction for financial year 2025; and
  • clause 19: energy security investment mechanism.
