Finance Act 2024 received royal assent on Thursday 22 February 2024. It is worth noting the addition of a new clause, and consequent renumbering of the Bill during the final stages in the House of Commons. Section 21 which introduced a new investment exemption from the electricity generator levy, was added as a new clause at report stage. As a result, the numbering of the Act differs slightly from the original version of the Bill, as follows:
original clauses 1 to 20 are unchanged;
new s 21 is added at report stage; and
original clauses 21 to 38 become ss 22 to 39.
In essence, sections from Pillar Two onwards were moved up by one section number.
