HMRC and the Treasury have launched a consultation Tax incentives for occupational health on how the tax system could help employers increase the provision of occupational health services for their employees, looking particularly at the potential effect of expanding existing tax exemptions for the provision of various medical benefits. The consultation closes on 12 October 2023.
This is part of the UK government's ambition to reduce levels of long-term sickness. The consultation is being run alongside a Department for Work and Pensions and Department for Health and Social Care consultation on non-fiscal measures which might achieve similar ends.
