HMRC has published a new webpage setting out the main contact points for its press office. The press office fields enquiries from the media, but can also be a helpful starting point for tax technical clarifications – for example, where published HMRC guidance appears not to reflect the statutory position.
The press office is organised across four desks:
personal tax;
borders and trade, and family;
business and corporate; and
law enforcement.
The press office can be contacted between 9am and 6pm, and a duty press officer is on call 24 hours a day to deal with urgent enquiries outside of those core hours.
