HMRC’s latest Stakeholder Digest (23 March 2023) includes the following highlights:
Campaign to move remaining paper filers over to self-assessment online: HMRC is writing to the 135,000 taxpayers who submit paper tax returns, encouraging them to file online in the future. Although paper filing remains available, forms will no longer be sent out automatically and, from 6 April 2023, will not be available for download. Instead, taxpayers will need to call HMRC to request paper tax return forms.
Tax-free childcare support available over the Easter school holidays:a reminder for working families to make sure they claim childcare costs approved for children aged 11 or under, or 16 if the child has a disability. Eligible parents and carers can receive up to £2,000 a year for each child or £4,000 a year for each child if their child is disabled.
Alcohol duty review: a reminder of the consultation on the secondary legislation, which closes on 9 April 2023. The regulations will come into effect on 1 August 2023.
