What’s hot?

We are currently enjoying a short quiet phase in the ongoing international tax reform programme in the UK as we wait for the next stage: publication of consultation documents on full Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) reform and the patent box expected sometime during May.

At the time of writing things have also been fairly quiet with the Finance Bill but the Committee Stage is about to commence when it is always possible that government amendments could appear.

The Bill had only just been published when I wrote my last column and I briefly mentioned the changes to the CFC interim improvements and the taxation of foreign branches.

One other area worth a quick mention is the new investment company election to specify the currency in which computations are to be prepared...
