This month's international review, by Tim Sarson (KPMG).

My firm held its Europe Middle East and Africa (EMA) tax conference in London this month and welcomed 700 tax professionals from across the globe to discuss hot topics in international taxation and the key macro trends which are likely to shape the future of international taxation. Naturally top of this list was taxation of the digital economy so I will start my round-up this month with the latest updates on the roadmap which was recently published by the OECD. The discussions on digital taxes have highlighted how the pace of technological change will continue to present significant challenges for the existing frameworks which have governed international taxation for the last 40 years and the clear tension between the BEPS ‘fixes’ to the OECD transfer pricing guidelines and the direction of travel on digital taxation.
