HMRC has published a press release reminding businesses affected by the making tax digital (MTD) rules that they will have to submit their first quarterly VAT return to HMRC using compatible software by 7 August 2019.
Separately, HMRC has updated its agents’ guide to signing clients up for MTD, with a reminder that applications for sign-up must be made at least at least 72 hours before their next VAT return is due, or seven days to preserve current direct debit arrangements.
