A quick Q&A with Jonathan Peacock QC, barrister, 11 New Square
How did you end up in tax?
As a pupil (trainee) barrister I got involved in a big film case and as a result thought that tax must be glamorous ...
What are you working on?
A lot of litigation in relation to transactions done before the financial crisis really hit. Things done in say 2005 look very different when seen in 2013 and that presents a real and interesting challenge in getting the courts to look at the issues in an appropriate way.
Who in tax do you most admire?
Steve Edge; he has done and seen everything knows everyone and he seems to remain positive all the time. He is also the best I know at seeing the principled answer to complex questions.
