How did you end up in VAT?

I answered a trawl application in a Sunday newspaper from HMCE for Executive Officer recruitment. I was expecting fast cars and fraud investigations. I was given Romford LVO. I found their Indirect Tax world very interesting but handling just domestic tax issues in a non-commercial environment soon became frustrating.

The highlight of your career?

I have the opportunity to be involved in large and complex deal negotiations while also being responsible for indirect tax risk and compliance in exciting new markets like China India Brazil and Africa. Of course making Vice-President of Indirect Taxes at a large US multi-national was nice too.
