How did you get into tax?
I trained as a chartered accountant with a very small firm in Victoria and I chose to go into tax because it was the specialism that clients seemed to value more than any other accounting or auditing service line.
What's the best piece of advice you've been given?
That's easy; it is to give clients the right answer as opposed to the one that they want to hear.
Who in tax do you most admire?
I'd have to say that it’s Nigel Eastaway a Partner here at BDO who has recently been awarded an OBE for services to taxation. I’ve encountered many brilliant people in the tax profession but for someone to get that kind of recognition for making a contribution...
