How did you end up in tax?
I spent my first year as a trainee solicitor in transaction and contentious seats. I was so bored that I considered leaving the legal profession. My mentor (who was a tax lawyer) recommended tax as she thought I would enjoy it. She was right.
What are you working on at the moment?
A mix of transaction and advisory mandates across various sectors. A tax lawyer’s skill set means that they can enjoy a varied diet of work. I am also involved with some legislative proposals in a representative capacity which is proving interesting.
Looking back on your career what is the key lesson you’ve learnt along the way?
You are always learning which I suppose is the most important thing that you learn. The other is not to...
