Senior Treasury minister is ‘Tax personality of the year’

David Gauke, the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, was voted 'Tax personality of the year' at last week’s LexisNexis Taxation Awards.

The judges included Mike Truman, editor of Taxation, and Ernst & Young’s global head of tax policy Chris Sanger. The awards ceremony, held at the London Hilton in Park Lane, was attended by more than 600 tax professionals.

‘The awards honour organisations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of taxation,’ said LexisNexis UK, publisher of Taxation and Tax Journal. The other winners were:

  • Best high net worth team: Deloitte, International Private Client Team

  • Best tax investigations team, McGrigors Tax
  • Best tax team in a large firm: BDO
  • Best tax team in a law firm: Burges Salmon, Tax Team
  • Best technological Innovation, IRIS Accountancy Solutions
  • Best VAT team: McGrigors, Tax
  • Tax writer of the year: Graham Elliott, haysmacintyre
