Small business expansion overseas

Global trade assisted by the growth of the internet is becoming more and more common. As a result many small UK businesses look to expand their operations overseas.
 
This expansion can be for a variety of commercial reasons including cheaper manufacturing costs for products or for sales to an overseas market which has previously been unexploited.
 
In the current economic climate any reasonable opportunity to increase sales margins is likely to merit investigation.
 
A small business can be presented with a commercially viable opportunity to expand and tax is not an immediate consideration.
However the tax impacts of expansion can potentially change a viable prospect into a costly exercise.
 
As we know it is paramount that tax advice is sought early on in the process...
