Tax was high on the agenda at last week’s G8 meeting in Northern Ireland and a key area of focus was ‘tax transparency’. However it may be harder to deal with the practical difficulties recognised in the report than is suggested.
On 18 June the OECD published a report commissioned by the G8 titled A Step Change in Tax Transparency which sets out the four steps required in the OECD’s view to put an effective model for automatic information exchange in place:
