Changes to DOTAS hallmarks 

 
On 2 February the government published a response to its technical consultation on changes to the hallmarks describing tax advantaged arrangements that must be disclosed under the disclosure of tax avoidance scheme (DOTAS) rules. The government has also laid amending regulations before Parliament to introduce the changes with effect from 23 February (The Tax Avoidance Schemes (Prescribed Descriptions of Arrangements) (Amendment) Regulations SI 2016/99). 
 
Those with long memories will recall that when it was first introduced in 2004 DOTAS had only two hallmarks one of which dealt with financial products. This changed in 2006 so that disclosure was more focused. What goes around comes around however as the regulations include...
