Victoria Atkins MP was appointed to the role of financial secretary to the Treasury on 27 October 2022. Her portfolio will include responsibility for tax policy and customs. Atkins takes over from Andrew Griffith who moves to the role of economic secretary to the Treasury.
Following a period of rapid change, key roles at the Treasury now include:
John Glen MP: chief secretary (responsible for public expenditure);
Victoria Atkins MP: financial secretary (responsible for tax and customs);
Andrew Griffith MP: economic secretary (responsible for financial services);
James Cartlidge MP: exchequer secretary (various responsibilities including climate and transport tax policy, excise duties and charity tax); and
